Are small, cheap or new crypto coins a better buy?
Quick answer
Mostly no. We tested 11 rules about small, cheap and new coins on real price history, each with its pass bar written before we looked: 1 passed, 9 failed and 1 was mixed or studies. The one that passed: Privacy coins after delisting news (Monero, Zcash, Dash; Bittrex 2021, OKX 2023, Binance and Kraken 2024).

What it means for you
Small, cheap and new coins: what this family of tests supports, in plain moves. Information only, not financial advice.
- A low price was not 'cheap': coins down a lot kept falling more often than they recovered, and most never regained their highs.
- Bitcoin recovering every time is the exception in crypto, not the rule. Few other coins shared it.
- A fresh listing, a low price or a new name was not a reason to buy.
